Website Developers gather for Word Camp Kampala 2017

Communities of Word Press users worldwide meet to network, share experience as users, developers and chat future prospects.

Word Camp Kampala 2017, first of its kind in Uganda and second in East Africa after one in Nairobi, Kenya early this year aims at enlighting the Ugandan community on the various online opportunities. WordPress is an open source Content Management System used to build websites, blogs, plugins and it is the widely used CMS powering over powering over 75 million websites world-wide per year 2016 according to Forbes Magazine and contributing over 28.9% websites in the world.

Starting an online career using WordPress from digital marketing, Website development plugin and theme development for revenue purposes are the reasons behind the initiators.

Looking at the vibrant online community in Kampala today with over 5000 active blogs and many freelancers, Word Press Conference 2017 going on for a second day now at Outbox, an incubation and Technology Collaboration Center sponsored by WPML, WOO Commerce, GoDaddy, bluehost came in handy.

Participants coming as far as Kitgum, Karamoja, Kabale from all walks of life including seasoned geeks, bloggers, writers meeting to forge a better future of online presence in Uganda.

Conference trending on social media (twitter) under hash Tag #WordCampKampala ruled the platform for the two days as number one. Theme of the conference: Harnessing WordPress; tapping into un limited online opportunities that WordPress has to offer.
