Tanzanian truck driver tests positive for COVID-19 in Uganda

The Ministry of Health confirmed one (1) new case of COVID-19 out of the 1,120 tested today at Uganda Virus research Institute (UVRI). Of these, 744 samples were from truck drivers at the border points of entry while 376 were from individuals in quarantine and contacts. The new confirmed case is among samples within the country. COVID-19 Confirmed cases are now 56.

The new case is a 34 year old Tanzanian truck driver from Dar-Es -Salama, Tanzania, who arrived at Mutukula border post yesterday 16-April-2020. He did not have any signs and symptoms of consistent with COVID-19. Efforts are underway to track the driver and return him to Tanzania.
