Son Suspected of Killing Father Over Land

Police in Kisoro arrested One Maniraguha James 27 yrs old of Gatobo village Busengo parish Nyarubuye Sub County in connection to the murder of Mugisha Jonas a 55-year-old teacher at Rwanzu Primary School who was murdered in the night of 24/03/18.

The suspect is a biological son with whom they had a long land conflict and was arrested from a hideout having not shown up during the police presence at the scene.

The locals said had been seen together in the eve of before his father was murdered.

The deceased is said to have gone to Kisoro town on Saturday evening to withdraw some money from the bank and on his way back home, he stopped at Rukundo trading centre for a social evening, and was waylaid by unknown assailants few meters a way to his home and was murdered.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate confirms the incident saying the investigations into the matter are underway.

“We are investigating to establish the truth of the matter and advised people to settle their differences amicably”.
