The new Mbarara District Police Commander Supretendant of Police (SP) Guard Murungi has warned on operation that are done by illegal Crime Preventers in Mbarara that they are being tracked and once caught they will face the law.
This comes on attention after intelligence information leak indicate that there are some of Crime preventers who do police work illigally some masquerading as police agents, yet the Government had earlier ordered all Crime Preventers in the Country to quit police activities and they are now attached to the UPDF.
SP Mugisha is the new DPC of Mbarara after replacing ASP Jaffer Magyezi who was once detained in Makindye Barracks by the Army over issues of former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura. While speaking to our Reporter this week, warned Crime Preventers to desist from their illigal activities since their activites are know and soon he will effect arrests.
However, SP Murungi added that though these Crime Preventers ceased to be suervised by Police, they cannot be stopped from approaching the police because they still have some intelligence information concerning criminality in the area.
Crime Preventers in Mbarara have been much supported by the former DPC ASP Magyezi who was later transferred to Kasangati after when he was released from detention in Makindye on Kayihura saga.
