Mbarara Municipal councilors shun Council meeting

Mbarara municipal council sitting which was set for today aborted as the councilors who turned up failed to make a quorum.

This forced the speaker Bonny Tashobya to adjourn it to 27th May 2019.

While addressing the media after adjourning the council Speaker Tashobya said that out of 50 councilors only 11 turned up and the council would not go on.

Tashobya says, this was the last council to pass the budget for the financial year 2019-2020.

According to speaker, councilors failed to turn up accusing the executive committee of failing to implement the council resolutions.

Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi the mayor however noted that, he wasn’t aware of councilor’s reasons to attend the council which was crucial, as it was meant to pass the 2019/2020 financial budget.
