Mbarara Mayoral race heats up; Kamugisha sues Mayor Kakyebezi for defamation

Herbert Kamugisha who recently declared interest to with Mbarara Mayor Kakyebezi also the NRM Vice Chairperson Mbarara District has filed a defamatory case at Mbarara Central Police Station against Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi with the intension of tarnishing his name.

Addressing the media in Mbarara town Kamugisha said that recently there was a photo that was circulating on social media with him and the Bishop of Ankole Diocese Fred Sheldon mwesigwa declaring him as the Anglican candidate which was not true.

Kamugisha who is also the head of laity Ankole Diocese said he got information that there was a planned move lead by the Kakyebezi to disseminate the photos on the Mosques and Catholic Church with the intension of tarnishing his name to other religions in the audios and the W messages from the person who he was dealing with.

He noted there should be no worriers saying showing intension that he wants to standing on the moyorship city doesn’t mean that he wants to stand on that position.

 When contacted, the mayor Kakyebezi disassociated himself from the group behind the photo saying that, the people behind it are intended to create a rift between him and Kamugisha.

 The Deputy RDC Mbarara Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi says the case is already in hands of the police as investigations into the matter are going.

Abert Nagumya who was In the deal with Mayor says that he received 620,000/= from the Mayor Kakyebezi for a press conference, he did this as one way of eliminating evil leaders within the municipality and he is ready to refund the money in case the mayor need it.

Abert Nangumay is not new to controversy. In 2017, Nabgumya led a mock demonstration with coffin allegedly containing corpse of President Museveni. They were arrested and charged Mbarara Court presided over by Magistrate Grade One Emmanuel Ninyokwizera
