If there is anything that will bring fire to the 2021 General Elections, it is the Youth and mostly those youth in informal sector who are un employed and whose lives have been hit hard by this Covid19 Pandemic.
And it is not different from the youth of the new created city whom we understand have decided to front their own candidate for the next general elections as their City Member of Parliament.
This website has learnt that Mbarara Ghetto and Garage youth have unanimously agreed to slow their weight to a one Jarc Tusiime and they have gone on to Nick name him Makanika aka Mr. Fixer.
“Turihiire nabagaiga abarikwaija batarikumanya biziibu byaitu bakatutemberaaho” one of the youth said in Runyankore meaning that they are tired of those rich politicians who don’t know their problems, who only come in Elections time to use them as ladders to the top!
“We will support our own with whatever we have and ensure that we shape our own development agenda” Ainebyoona Manyabanaku, a boda boda rider in Mbarara City intimated.
When contacted, Jarc Tusiime- the former Mbarara High School and St Peter’s Katukuru student confirmed that it’s indeed true and that he will be offering himself as a torch bearer of the economically sidelined population in the city.
“Our people are becoming poor day by day, the youth unemployment rate is worsening in the city, the environmental challenges are visible, our women are being chased out of the city without alternatives, and the NRM party is losing support because of masqueraders who have failed to unite the members. Those are some of the reasons that I have decided to come and liberate my comrades economically. My biggest focus will be on Skills Development, ICT promotion in the city, advocate for Industrialization or value addition and to ensure that each household at least earns 20,000/= per day.” Jarc Tusiime said in a phone interview.
Who is Jarc Tusiime?
Born in Itaaba Kyabanyoro in a peasant family of Mr Jordan Mugyerwa and Mrs Joy Kasande, attended Katukuru and Kyabanyoro Primary Schools in Nyakayojo division,St Peter’s Katukuru,Bujaga Secondary School and Mbarara High School for his secondary education.
Jarc Tusiime holds a Master’s Degree in Environment and Natural Resource Management from Makerere University a Degree in Chemical Engineering, a diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a diploma in leadership and governance from MSTCDC-Arusha.
The father of two worked for coca- cola, Tullow oil, Pepsi-Cola, Ministry of water before he quit employment and started his own Engineering consultancy firm.
This website understands that Jarc Tusiime has been involved in many Mbarara youth organizations and he is currently a member of Mbarara District youth council and Mbarara NRM Youth League.
Whether this humble 34 year old can challenge the financial muscle of Hon Michael Tusiime, Ambassador Mwesigwa Rukari, Bright Rwamirama’s son Mwine Mpaka and the former Mbarara District LC5 Chairman Mr Deus Tumusiime is a story for another day.
The book makers have already predicted that this will be the most expensive and competitive election in the history of Mbarara District.
