Mbarara councillors’ saga deepens, as speaker demands compensation

Mbarara. The conflict between Mbarara Municipality Speaker Bonny Tashobya Karusya and Councilor Immam Kagiko is not about to end soon, as the former demands compensation from the later after he allegedly circulated wrong information.

It is alleged that last year Immam Kagiko who represents Katete ward Nyamitanga division without proof tainted the image of Tashobya branding him as an incompetent speaker that he connived with some Municipal officials to give out open Space Land opposite Stanbic Bank. That he also posted that Speaker had swindled some money for street Lights that he also involved himself in grabbing of some Kiosks in central market at Independence Park.

We have been informed that after realizing that he could not contain and stop Kagiko from what he was circulating, he decided to go to court after Kagiko refused to apoligise.

Last week, they appeared in court for mediation but all went in vain after the speaker insisted that Kagiko must pay for his actions.

Kagiko also allegedly pinned Tashobya that he was the one behind the acid attack of Amos Katurebe a Councillor representing Nyamityobora ward, he was attacked by unknown assailants last year in November on his way to his home and poured acid on his face, a day to when when he was supposed to appear before the Land probe committee led by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemerire as a witness on the land matters.
