Mbarara. The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Betty Aol Ochan on Tuesday this week urged students to stand firm and stop being intimidated if they want to fight for their rights.
She said this while she was officiating the “Guild Cup” which was organized by the Bishop Stuart University Guild Council that at BSU Play Grounds in Kakoba Mbarara.
Aol was accompanied by the Mbarara FDC Chairman Stanley Katembeya and the Buhweju Member of Parliament Francis Mwijukye, who asked the students to stay focused and struggle for the good governance.
While addressing the students after the tournament that ended late evening, Aol encouraged the students that while they are engaging in Sports activities, they should also participate in activities of transforming Uganda to a better living and developed country through fighting for their rights. She also added that as students they shouldn’t be intimidated when they are fighting for their rights.
According to Aol, it wasn’t the victory of Denmark Adios the BSU Guild President (FDC), as an Opposition Leader she wouldn’t bother to come and officiate sports events at this University. However, according to the administration of this University, they were not aware that FDC Leaders were expected on the event.
According the BSU PRO Rose Rwankore, she said that as administration they were not aware of that the Leaders of Opposition that they would be the Guest of Honors until they learnt later when Aol Betty and Mwijukye had arrived.
She believes all that was planned in corridors of the Guild Council without the informing the University administration.
The presence of these opposition leaders was organized secretly Guild President when the faculty of Social Works was playing against Business Studies in the finals of the tournament this year.
LoP Aol raised 500,000= for the Guild Council.
