Isingiro District Chairman charged, granted bail

The Isingiro District chairperson Jeremiah Birungi Kamaulari Omugogozi who is said to have been in hiding after the court issued warrant of arrest yesterday appeared before grade one magistrate court on the cases against him.

While appearing before the grade one magistrate Hillary Atanazio Muragyira four cases were mentioned against him including theft, assault, criminal trespass and malicious damages which were allegedly committed between in the year of 2016-2017 in Isingiro.

The accused denied all the cases against him.

Through his lawyer Bonefance Ngarunye of Ngauruye Rihindi and advocates in submission asked the court to grant bill to the accused.

The magistrate Atanazio granted the court baill of four cases each file at 400,000 totaling to 1.6million shillings cash and each surety is to pay 800,000 non cash.

The hearing of the case was adjourned until 23rd may 2019.

Speaking to our reporter after court session,the Isingiro District Chairperson Jeremiah Birungi Kamaulari Omugogozi say the charges are politically motivated, after he declared that he will contest for Bukanga county Member of Parliament, against incumbent, Steven Kangwangye.

He thanked court for standing on law while delivering the judgment.
