The main Machete wielding murder suspect who escaped from chief magistrate’s court in Masaka Musa Galiwango has been shot and chaptered in Ntungamo district yesterday morning.
Musa Galiwango commonly known as Dauda Kawesi escaped from Masaka in March this year but was rounded up by police flying squad who teamed up with their colleagues from Mbarara central police station at Kigarama cell, Kanyampumo, Nyabihoko, Kajara in Ntungamo district.
Galiwanga and his friend Muhammad Kidawalime on 1st March of 2018 escaped from Masaka court before Kidawalime was killed by a mob in Karungu district a few weeks after the escape.
According to members of the flying squad led by Ronald Balya, and James Besigye told reporters that Galiwango was tracked by police using a mobile phone which he alleged to have robbed from someone in Kampala.
He said that the system of tracking Galiwango started since the time he escaped until when he was found in Kigarama on Tuesday around 2:00am during night.
“He stole the Phone from a mobile money agent and we have been trilling him for almost for five days until we rounded him today morning” said Balya.
When contacted Kenneth Mukasa Mugabirwe the Ass Prisons Commissioner of the Greater Masaka said that he came to Mbarara referral hospital where Galiwango is currently admitted after sustaining serious injuries in exchange of gun fire with police.
He said that Galiwango and Kidawalime and seven others killed 7 people in new year’s day in Bukomansimbi in Masaka district include a police officer.
According to the Rwizi police spokes Samson Kasasiira who confirmed the incident and said that Galiwango was shot in the week hours of the morning in the home of Enock Katigigi of kigarama cell, Kanyampumo in Ntungamo district where he has been hiding for a while after escaping from Masaka.
Kasasiira said that when they tried to interrogate some of the locals said that he came disguise as a house helper looking after cattle.
He said that after exchange of gun shots between Galiwango and police he was shot in both shoulders and the back claiming that he found with a pistol and a motor cycle bagagi boxer number UAP 064 A.
