Over 400 families of residents Rwakishakiizi ward Nyakayojo division in Mbarara municipality are at high risk of being hit by strong famine and poverty following the heavy hailstorm that left several garden and other properties destroyed.
The affected villages include; Rwakishakiizi I and II, Kagasha, Ruyonza, Nshungyezi, Kibingo 1 and 2, Karama I and II, Musyamo and Nyakatsya.
These includes Tomato gardens, banana plantations, fish ponds, coffee plantations among others.
According to residents, agriculture has been the base for their income but everything has been washed away and they are left with nothing.

They now want the ministry of disaster and preparedness to come to their rescue and offer them relief.
Speaking to our reporter Teo Kataratambi, the municipal councillor for Nyakayojo division in Mbarara municipality reveals that as leaders they are going to follow all the steps to ensure that people are given what to eat.
In Relation to that residents of Munyonyi and Kyabakara sub counties in katerera County Rubirizi district are stranded after the rain washed away their crops and destroyed their properties.
The rain that down poured for three complete hours left many gardens destroyed and houses down.
According to residents that were affected, they are now left with nothing and they are likely to be hit up by serious famine.
They now want the ministry of disaster and preparedness to come up and help the affected areas.
