Commissioner of Police (CP) Fred Enanga has bounced back as police spokesperson, replacing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emilian Kayima who has been appointed in charge of information and publication under the Chief Political Commissar (CPC) directorate.
CP Enanga will be deputized by Assistant Commissioner of Police Polly Namaye who once served in the same position, according to a police source.
In the new transfer by the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola, SP Patrick Onyango who has been the deputy police spokesperson will now serve as Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson. He replaces Mr Luke Oweyesigire. Mr Oweyesigire will deputise SP Onyango.
Enanga and Namaye once served in the position of police spokesperson and deputy police police spokesperson respectively, but were dropped by former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura in 2016 and replaced by AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi who was killed in March 2017.
The duo, however, remained in the public
relations office during Kaweesi’s tenure and that of AIGP Asan Kasingye who
took over after Kaweesi’s murder.
In November 2017, SSP Kayima was appointed to replace Kasingye as police publicist but the deployment remained silent on the fate of the two officers (Enanga and Namaye), both senior in rank to Kayima.
