The embattled police officer was later released on bail however with stringent terms.
He was asked to report to the Professional Standards Unit everyday before being stopped from speaking to the media and posting on social media about police issues.
Before court sat to hear Kirumira’s case, Journalists were beaten in a bid to stop them from covering court proceedings.
The rest were locked out of the court sitting. Kirumira’s lawyer Kiwanuka Abdallah was also refused from entering court by police.
Kiwanuka later said that even though lawyers are not supposed to represent accused officers in the police court, he wanted to sit and listen in to the proceedings because they are going to a higher court to challenge some things that the police court is doing, and listening in would have helped him get the evidence he needed.
