The Mbarara based Bishop Stuart University (BSU) has emerged as the overall best exhibitor in Africa defeating other Universities that exhibited during the 15th Regional University Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture ( RUFORUM ) Annual General meeting that held at the University of Cape Coast – Ghana.
This was held between 2nd and 6th December 2019 where about 121 African Universities participated in the exhibition about Agricultural incubations.
Addressing the Journalists during a press conference today Wednesday at BSU, Prof. Mauda Kamatenesi the University Vice Chancellor showed that BSU has broken a record of excellence during this exhibition where the three BSU students in an incubation project.
Three incubatees identified as Hilary Natumanya, Anita Atuhaire from Bishop Sturat University(BSU) Agribusiness Incubation Hub (AIH) represented other students in Ghana where they competed with other students/incubatees from the different Universities that also participated in the same exhibition.
Egerton University from Kenya was the second to BSU in the Exhibition.
Vice Chancellor Kamatenisi said that having obtained such victory, as BSU they are going to register a company within the University for their Incubation activities to produce valuable products because they no longer want to export row products yet as Africa they also have skills to produce finished products. She added that as BSU they want to extend Agro-business beyond the University level. BSU has currently focused on Agribusiness and innovative skills according to Kamatenesi. This is one of promoting entrepreneurship on how to compete in international markets. She also added that Mbarara community must also benefit in these projects especially when they get participated in Agro-business
