Bishop Silas, Tycoon Muyambi in bitter feud over District Land deal

Mbarara. There is growing tension between two prominent people in Mbarara Town; Bishop Silas Tayebwa of King of Kings Churches and Tycoon Angelo Muyambi of Generation Suites and Gardens over a plot of land belonging to the district.

The two are currently having interests on the land, the Mbarara District had earlier this month zoned to put a Five Star Hotel according to the Satellite City Status plan of Mbarara. The two are neighbouring the contested plot of land hoping seeking a lease from the district.

According to our sources, the two have several times been trying to out compete each other and at times applying underhand methods to sabotage lease applications for the piece of land from the district.

Bishop Silas has been partly a sitting tenant on a district land for over 10 years, he had applied for a sub-lease of the land where his main Church King of Kings is located but up to now he has never acquired that Lease.  He applied for a sub-Lease in 2009 in the Former District Chairman Yaguma Rutashokwa’s regime who is per now the Kashari North Member of Parliament. He later applied for the second time in 2012 in Deus Tumusiime’s regime but all in vain.

Bishop Silas received an offer in August when the current district council passed a resolution in a council meeting in his favor to obtain a land lease of 49 years.  The resolution was later changed to include land where generation suites is located be zoned for a five-star hotel.

Origin of Five Star Hotel.

Our reporter who investigated this five-star hotel idea, got to know that it was Muyambi’s desire to expand and transform Generation Suites to a fully-fledged hotel, an idea he sold to his buddies in the District Council
