13 suspects arrested in Mbarara over Electronics and cattle theft

Mbarara. Police in Mbarara has arrested more than 13 suspects who were found in connection with electronics and cattle theft around Mbarara, these were arrested after a joint operation involving all security agencies in Mbarara.  

These suspects were paraded today Monday  by the police at the Mbarara Central Police station after two days since these suspects were arrested from  different places of Mbarara.

According to the Rwizi Police Spokes Person Samson Kasasira about 7 suspects were arrested from Mbarara town after they were suspected to be in connection with theft of Electronics like mobile phones, Laptops, monitors and other electronics devices. Among these suspects, some were arrested from one of top Studios in Mbarara called One Week Studio located at High Street near Centenary Bank. This studio was spotted as a place these thieves go and change serial numbers from.

Other suspects are in connection with electronics theft racket operating from Makhanising Street in one the studios owned by Leonard Tukamushaba. Some of the suspects arrested include Shafik Kayondo, Emmanuel Muhwezi, Herbert Baryamujura, Obed Muhwezi these were picked from One Week Studio and Obed Muhwezi, Leonard Tukamushaba and Brifin Mutebi who were arrested from Makhanising Street at Tuukamushaba’s studio. It is alleged that other suspects like one Hilary are still on run.

Police recovered about 200 phones, 5 laptops, 3 monitors from the suspects during the operation.

Mbarara RDC and DPC before paraded suspects

On the same criminal cases, 6 suspects were also netted by police in connections with cattle theft. These were arrested from areas of Bubare in Kashari on Sunday.

Lt. Col. James Mwesigye the RDC of Mbarara has warned all criminals that Mbarara has started a joint operation named as “Fijiya wakyafu” to clean Mbarara of criminals. He says that no more room for criminals in Mbarara and advised them to either repent or shift other districts.
