Mbarara Municipal Council Speaker released on Bail

Ant-speaker group of councilors in Mbarara Municipality are lamenting over the release of the speaker Bonny Tashobya who was freed on bail by the Chief magistrate of Mbarara court magistrates Mariam Akello Ayo.

Tashobya was released on court bail of 1m cash and 10m none cash to each of sureties that stood for speaker Bonny Tashobya  who has been in police custody for four days after being arrested of pouring Acid to the councilor Amos Katurebe.

After his bail some of the councilors who fight against Tashobya, lamented following hi release on Tuesday that it was unfair because this may sabotage the investigation towards his case. Tashobya was charged with Aggravated Murder in court.

According to one of the councilors Muhammad Byansi revealed that whether court decides unfairly to their side it may cause much more chaos in Mbarara Municipality claiming that if Tashobya do not be charged equally to the crime he acted, they must do something to him equally to what he did to their fellow councilor.

While another councilor, one God told our reporter that if the speaker was suspected to have poured Acid to their councilor then court would have not given him a bail to allow thorough investigations be done. He added that as councilors they well know that there are some big people who are behind hi release.

Tashobya was stood by five sureties and these include, Deus Tumusiime Omuteganda the former Chairman for Mbarara District, Steven Muganga chairman for Biharwe Division Teopista Kataratambi councilor in the Municipal Council, Muluwa Kibelu Councilor in the Municipal Council and one Henry who works as CDO at Mbarara Municipal Council.

Tashobya will report back to court on 6th December 2017 .Accoradaing toTashobya’as Lawyers Balinda Daudi and his wife Shamim Nalugema  Balinda appealed to the court wanting a bail that will favor his client to go and prepare himself on he could testify towards his case. He also stated that he asked for the bail because the allows that when the court has not decided, then the suspect is innocent.
